Snow collapse: truck hit by falling tree

In the Leibnitz district of Styria, a tree that had collapsed under the weight of the snow crashed into a truck on Tuesday morning. The 63-year-old driver was thrown into the ditch on the opposite side of the road.

The sudden onset of winter is currently causing chaos on Styrian roads. Trees that break off due to the weight of the snow are also becoming a danger. On Tuesday morning, for example, a falling tree hit a truck in Maierhof near Leibnitz. It crashed into the tarpaulin superstructure of the vehicle on the B 74.

Truck hurled into the ditch
Inside was a 63-year-old Slovenian, who was thrown into the opposite ditch together with the truck due to the impact. Fortunately, he only suffered minor injuries and was able to seek medical treatment on his own.

Federal highway remains closed
The Pistorf and Fresing-Kitzeck fire departments were called out. Due to the danger of falling trees, the B 74 between Maierhof and Fresing will remain closed to all traffic until further notice. The provincial warning center asks for caution on the road - there are still plenty of dangerous situations today.
