Emergency doctor required after liquid leak
An unknown substance leaked in Obertrum (Flachgau) on Monday evening and caused quite a stir. According to initial information, six people were injured, some of them seriously.
The leak of the still unknown substance occurred in Lindenhofstraße in Obertrum on Monday evening shortly after 8pm. Six people between the ages of three and 72 were injured in the incident. They are likely to have inhaled the substance, which was no longer detectable in the evening.
The Red Cross was notified at around 8.15 p.m. and responded with three ambulances and an emergency doctor. The emergency helicopter "Christophorus 6" was also requested.
The people, some of whom were seriously injured, were taken by the emergency services to Salzburg Regional Hospital and the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy in Salzburg.
Carbon monoxide poisoning ruled out
The Obertrum volunteer fire department was alerted at 8.45 pm. Initially, a gas leak was suspected, but this was not confirmed. The firefighters nevertheless entered the wooden house wearing breathing apparatus, but only ventilated the rooms.
Experts called in that evening were unable to detect any specific toxic substances or clearly identify the danger zone. According to the latest findings, carbon monoxide poisoning can be ruled out. "This is also shown by the blood test", as a spokeswoman for the provincial police department emphasized to the "Krone". The victims' leftover food is now being routinely examined.
