Fire in Schladming

Stable burnt out: All chickens rescued

A fire broke out in a chicken coop in Klaus, a district of Schladming, on Monday morning. No chickens were harmed.

The fire probably broke out at around 11.30 am on Monday. When the Schladming, Mandling-Pichl, Haus and Oberhaus fire departments arrived with 30 firefighters, the barn was already fully engulfed in flames. Fortunately, it was not fully occupied and the chickens could be saved.

In order to fight the fire, the roof of the building had to be removed. A defective heat bulb may have been the cause of the fire, according to the police. The exact cause of the fire will be investigated over the next few days.
