One seriously injured
Trailer drilled into passenger compartment in crash
Yet another serious accident involving a truck trailer: this time too, the windshield of a car was pierced by the semi-trailer of a truck on impact, right at the driver's head height. The driver escaped with his life: he was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
Another serious accident between a truck and a car has occurred in Upper Austria. At around 6.45 a.m. on Monday morning, a 56-year-old long-distance lorry driver from Poland had steered his vehicle to the right-hand side of the road on the Rieder Bundesstraße between Haag am Hausruck and Grieskirchen with his hazard warning lights on. He later stated that he wanted to make sure he was on the right road.
Bumper drilled into car
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old from Haag am Hausruck was speeding in the same direction in his VW Golf. He was unable to brake in time and crashed into the rear of the trailer. The rear bumper of the heavy trailer penetrated the windshield at head height.
Serious injuries
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old survived the collision: after receiving initial emergency medical treatment, he was taken to Wels-Grieskirchen Hospital with serious injuries.
Guardian angels again
Just last week, two young car occupants also had very diligent guardian angels (see link box): Two young men (17, 18) had crashed a small Nissan sports car into the side of a truck trailer, which had virtually "shaved off" the classic car right up to the rear window. The 18-year-old driver was seriously but not life-threateningly injured, while his 17-year-old passenger escaped with minor injuries.
