Styria’s biggest forest fire is extinguished!

The forest fire that broke out in the municipality of Wildalpen on April 1st kept the emergency services on their toes for weeks. 2000 people were involved in the fight against the largest forest fire in the history of Styria, and on Sunday evening it was finally possible to announce "fire out".

Around 120 hectares have been burning in Wildalpen since Easter Monday. The fire had been contained over the last few days, but underground pockets of embers in particular prevented the emergency services from resting.

On Sunday at 6 p.m., the Wildalpen operations command finally reported "fire out" to the Liezen area fire brigade control center after control flights with the drone by the Zauchen fire brigade.
