Before the dream round
Straka on his fan accident: “He was bleeding!”
Golf pro Sepp Straka couldn't really enjoy his dream round on Saturday night. Because it started with a shock.
On hole 1, the Viennese hit a spectator on the head with his golf ball, who then had to be treated and stitched up. "He was bleeding. The paramedics got to him pretty quickly. He said he was fine," said Straka after his dream round, which he had started badly with a double bogey due to the accident.
However, the Ryder Cup winner from the previous year made eight birdies on the following 17 holes and played par on the remaining holes. Straka followed up his 66 from the previous day with a round of 65 on the par-71 course, putting him in a tie for the lead with the Americans Tom Hoge, J.T. Poston and Collin Morikawa. A trio followed one shot behind in fifth place.
