Prelude to the Tigers’ third strike?
After two championship titles in a row, the Tiger women are aiming for their next triumph. The men's national league team has been rejuvenated this year. The Stegersbach club's season starts with home games.
A home match day is always something very special for us," says Tigers chairman Andreas Freiberger. The red and gold flagship club for inline skater field hockey starts the new season on Saturday with a packed program. The U13s will kick things off, followed by the women's team (16:15). The women from Stegersbach have won the championship title in the past two seasons and are aiming for a third title this time.
"More experience"
"The squad is still really good and we logically have more experience thanks to our success in recent years," says Freiberger. In the first Bundesliga match of the new season, the team takes on Wolfurt. This will be a rematch of last year's final duel. "That's a really strong opponent to start with. But the girls are super prepared and motivated to the max."
Probably similar to the Tiger men. They will face the 2023 national champions, the Lunatic Hockey Team from Vienna (18). "That's a big challenge for our squad," says Freiberger. Under the leadership of player-coach Prükler, the team has undergone a real rejuvenation in recent months. "Nevertheless, we still have enough experience in the squad. Coupled with the youthful vigor, we can expect a lot from the lads," hopes Freiberger.
