Ulmer can be worth his weight in gold in the battle for the title

Crowd favorite Andreas Ulmer has been fit for almost two weeks, but has always been missing from the squad of champions FC Red Bull Salzburg. However, the veteran could help his team in the current situation. The 38-year-old is also working on his future. Which may lead abroad.  

What has actually happened to Salzburg's record player Andreas Ulmer? Many supporters, who miss the regular captain in the reigning champions' squad, are asking themselves the same question. The 38-year-old played his last game in a Bulls shirt around two months ago. Since then, things have been quiet around Salzburg's record player.

Initially, there were understandable reasons for this. The native of Upper Austria suffered a calf injury that put him out of action for a longer period of time. The veteran has been plagued by physical problems throughout the season. As a result, Ulmer only made 17 appearances in the 2023/24 soccer year, playing 918 minutes on the pitch.

Few appearances, mostly reliable
appearances in which he delivered good performances (such as against Sturm in February), but also weaker ones (against BW Linz). However, with a "Krone" grade average of 3.1 ("solid"), the 32-time senior international proved that he can still be counted on. Despite competition, he repeatedly played his way into the Salzburg starting eleven before the next setback.

15th plate as a farewell?
The left-footer has been fit again for two weeks. However, he was not in the squad against either Rapid (1:1) or LASK (1-3). Games in which the experience of the crowd favorite, who has played 581 competitive matches for the team from Mozartstadt, certainly wouldn't have hurt. Because the league leaders looked hesitant and completely insecure. Now the hat is on fire, the championship is in danger. It's important to keep calm. Calm players like Ulmer, of whom the champions only have a few in their squad, can be worth their weight in gold!

After all, Ulmer is also keen to win the championship. The club legend's departure from Salzburg has long been a foregone conclusion. He would love to leave the city of Mozart with his 15th championship plate (14 of them with the Bulls). 

But the father of two has not had enough: he is determined to continue playing. According to information from the "Krone", talks have already taken place with clubs at home and abroad. It cannot be ruled out that Ulmer will continue as an active footballer for another two or three years. After that, Ulmer would like to pass on his experience as a coach. He has therefore been studying for a B license for several months.
