Curious license plate
Soon 85! But fan club grandpa never misses a KAC game
84 years old, but far from tired! Franz Wieltsch, probably the oldest active fan club member of the Red Jackets, always cheers on his KAC in the "Red White Dragons" sector. Despite knee pain - and despite being from Villach! Of course he only has one wish for the grand final this Friday:
A real noble fan! That's Franz Wieltsch. The good gentleman is already 84 years old. And the former natural track luger still cheers on "his" KAC - always in the Red White Dragons' standing grandstand. Probably the oldest active member of all Red Jackets fan clubs.
"The knee hurts"
"It's a fixture at home. I also go to almost every away game. After the super win in Salzburg last time, I didn't mind not getting home until 2 o'clock. My knee hurts standing in the hall, but it pays off," laughs the fan grandpa.
KAC fever since 1959
Wieltsch caught KAC fever in 1959 - at the opening game of the Klagenfurt Stadthalle. "I was so fascinated by the now deceased Tommy Lemon with his tricks and technique! Now Unterweger is my favorite player."
"KAC license plate lost"
But what makes his passion for the KAC even more curious is that Wieltsch is from Villach! And everyone recognizes him when he drives around in his Toyota - his license plate reads: VI KAC 2! "Once it was KAC 1, then I lost the plate," laughs Wieltsch.
"Wish me a win for my birthday"
He also wants to laugh this Friday, when the KAC plays for the title in the all-important game seven against Salzburg in Klagenfurt. Because Wieltsch wants to celebrate twice: tomorrow, Saturday, he turns 85! "Of course a triumph would be a nice present. I'm betting on a narrow victory and would like a 2:1!"
