Now game seven!
KAC prevents Red Bull Salzburg’s championship party
The KAC forced the decisive seventh game of the final series in the ICE Hockey League with a 4:1 away win at Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday evening and prevented the Bulls from winning the championship again for the time being. With their backs to the wall, the Carinthians managed to equalize the score at 3:3. The last match will be played on Friday in Klagenfurt.
The KAC started game six determined to bring the deciding game to Klagenfurt. And things got off to a great start for the visitors with a double strike. Paul Postma made it 1:0 after just 79 seconds following a quick combination and Matt Fraser made it 2:0 just 91 seconds later. Although the home side had far more shots on goal at the end of the first period, they were unable to change the score before the break.
Murphy shortens the gap in the middle third
In the middle third, the KAC were awarded their first penalty shortly after the break and almost scored a short-handed goal through Hundertpfund. The Carinthians then had several good chances and were closer to making it 3:0. But the next goal went to the hosts. Ryan Murphy reduced the deficit to 1:2 with a slap shot in the 36th minute.
The "Bulls" started the final period strongly, but KAC goalie Sebastian Dahm stood out several times. And then Canadian Nick Petersen was on hand. After a beautiful assist from Jan Mursak, he scored the decisive goal in the 49th minute to make it 3:1. In the midst of the home side's period of pressure, it was Lukas Haudum who made everything clear for the Red Jackets with his 26th goal of the season to make it 4:1 in the 57th minute.
