Rodionov celebrates first ATP Tour victory this year
Yuriy Rodionov won his first round match at the ATP250 tennis tournament in Munich against Aleksandar Vukic 6:2, 6:3 on Tuesday.
For Rodionov, who is ranked 118th in the world, it was his first win on the ATP Tour this year against the 65th-ranked Australian. The 24-year-old will play the top-seeded German Alexander Zverev in the round of 16 on Wednesday (second match after 11.00 a.m.).
Rodionov got off to a dream start and was already 3-0 up after eight minutes. He followed this up with two more breaks and ended the first set after 32 minutes. In the second set, he managed a break to make it 4:2 and the match was over after 1:24 hours. It was Rodionov's first match against Vukic on the ATP Tour, now he will play the world number five Zverev for the first time.
For the 26-year-old German, it is his second appearance against an ÖTV player in a short space of time. Last week, he defeated Sebastian Ofner 6:3, 6:4 in the second round of Monte Carlo.
