Racism scandal! Real player insulted by fans
The next incident of racism in Spanish soccer: during the 1:0 away win of record champions and league leaders Real Madrid against Real Mallorca on Saturday, Real professional Aurelien Tchouameni was racially insulted by a local fan.
The home club condemned the incident on Sunday and announced that they were working with the police to identify the supporter in question.
The incident took place at the Mallorca Son Moix stadium after Tchouameni scored the winning goal with a long-range shot in the 48th minute. The 24-year-old French international was verbally abused by a person in the stands while celebrating the goal, as the club from the Mediterranean island explained, citing film footage.
There has been an increasing number of racist incidents in the Spanish league in recent years. The Brazilian Vinicius Junior, team-mate of ÖFB star David Alaba and Tchouameni at Real, is one of the most prominent and most frequent victims of this type of insult and has repeatedly called for prison sentences for the perpetrators.
