Seriously injured after accident during maypole transport
Two young men were seriously injured today, Saturday, in the early evening while transporting a maypole in Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße. Both were taken to nearby hospitals.
The 17-year-old locals were sitting on the trunk of the maypole being transported by a tractor on the Großglocknerstraße (L271) out of the valley. Shortly before the municipal boundary with Bruck, the drawbar of the combination probably broke in a bend.
As a result, the two young men probably came under the trunk of the tree. The emergency services were alerted immediately. The Red Cross was on site with an emergency doctor and an ambulance. Alpin Heli 6 was also called out.
The two seriously injured men were taken to Zell am See and Schwarzach hospitals.
The police and the Fusch volunteer fire department were also deployed. The L271 was completely closed for around half an hour.
