Neureuther admits:
“The worst thing you can ever do”
During his active career, Felix Neureuther was always regarded as a disciplined athlete who took his training seriously in order to achieve the desired results. When it came to nutrition, however, the former technical specialist allowed himself the occasional exception - although he regretted it again at the finish line.
In the BR24Sport podcast "Pizza & Pommes", the German revealed: "At the very beginning of a World Cup race, I was craving a goulash soup between runs. And then I was so hungry that I tucked into a yeast dumpling afterwards."
"Almost spat out"
Not exactly the ideal athlete's diet, as Neureuther realized during the second run. "I swear to you: I almost spat it all out at the finish. Because it came up again due to the strain. And that taste of goulash soup mixed with a yeast dumpling with vanilla sauce, I think that was the worst thing you could have done."
Even though the race went better than expected, a goulash soup and yeast dumpling combo was rarely on the 40-year-old's diet from then on.
