Hidden in the woods
Drunk and drugged drivers flee from the police
The Salzburg traffic police had a lot to do from Friday to Saturday with drivers who were no longer roadworthy. A drunk driver and a drugged driver fled from the officers independently of each other.
In Niedernfritz, a 25-year-old man was driving his car on the B99 clearly too fast on Friday night. Despite clear signs to stop, he accelerated and sped off in the direction of Eben. The police then found the locked car in this town and the driver had disappeared. A police dog tracked down the 25-year-old shortly afterwards in a steep, impassable stretch of forest. A breathalyzer test showed 1.3 per mille. The man has lost his driver's license.
Already on Friday afternoon, traffic police officers measured a car traveling out of town in Salzburg-Itzling at 44 km/h in the 30 km/h zone. The driver ignored the stop signs, turned around, hit a kerb and fled out of town. The officers found the damaged car in Bergheim.
Shortly afterwards, they stopped a 29-year-old man and a woman from Hallein. The man stated that he had panicked because he did not have a driver's license and had consumed a joint the previous evening. The drug test showed cannabis and he was charged with several offenses.
