When Tunisia becomes a second home
Tennis player Arabella Koller has been playing in the Tunisian coastal town of Monastir for five weeks in a row, although she never actually wanted to go there again. The Salzburg native has already reached the quarter-finals twice.
"Never again Monastir." That's what tennis girl Arabella Koller told the "Krone" in an interview last year, after she had played several ITF tournaments in the Tunisian coastal town. At the time, the 23-year-old did not expect to be traveling to the North African country again this year. "I had a different plan, but I really wanted to play tournaments on hard court. Unfortunately, there aren't that many opportunities there, which is why I play so often in Monastir. It's almost my second home now," grins Koller, who is now there for the fourth week in a row and successfully qualified for the upcoming tournament yesterday.
She is satisfied with the results so far (she has made it to the quarter-finals twice): "I've already played some good matches."
She will then return to Salzburg next week. On a positive note for the future: from July 10, it will be possible to fly directly to Monastir from the city of Mozart.
