Great prize
Gmunden pupils build best canned satellite
"Gmunden, come in please!" - Will satellites from the Salzkammergut soon be beaming down to Earth from space or exploring alien life in space? At least the high school students from Gmunden are well on the way to finding out. After all, they won a "canned satellite" competition and can now join the space engineers in Holland!
The "Gmunden Space Agency" team from BG/BRG Gmunden with mentor Michael Kolnberger won the Austrian final of the ESERO (European Space Education Resource Office) CanSat competition in Suben and Linz and will travel to the ESA's technical center, ESTEC, in the Netherlands in June for "Space Engineer for a day".
Real project recreated
The competition involves going through all the phases of a real space project. Incidentally, the satellites were made from normal drinks cans. The Steyr grammar school and the BG/BRG/BORG Schärding also won prizes.
