Use of AI in the workplace: employees divided on opinion
Employees are divided on whether artificial intelligence should take over routine tasks in the workplace. A good half of employees (51%) are in favor of handing over "boring" tasks to AI, while 46% are against it. This was announced by the digital association Bitkom on Thursday in Berlin on the basis of a survey.
"Artificial intelligence will change jobs in practically all professions in the coming years and reduce the workload for employees," explained Bitkom President Ralf Wintergerst. AI will primarily take on simple, repetitive tasks, point out errors and evaluate large amounts of data.
According to the survey, the majority of respondents (77%) fear that the use of AI will lead to job losses, while 71% believe that it will become more difficult to keep track of who is responsible for errors. While almost half (45%) would like a personal software assistant, only 31% believe that this could take over their tasks completely.
Wintergerst called on companies to enable employees to gain their own experience with AI applications. "By teaching AI skills, the possibilities and limitations of the technology can be better understood," he explained.
