Fuss over sex text messages
Scandal surrounding Horner is dealt with on Netflix
Since the start of the season, one topic in particular has dominated the Formula 1 headlines away from the race track: The scandal surrounding the sex messages allegedly sent by Christian Horner to a female employee. The topic will also feature in the Netflix documentary "Drive to Survive", as producer James Gay-Rees has now announced.
"It has to be referenced in some way, yes," the Brit told the Telegraph. According to Gay-Rees, all parties want to tell what happened from their perspective, "so it's about walking that fine line so that everyone is happy in the end - including Netflix and us, so we can sleep well with the decisions we make."
In possession of the documents
Although the producers of the hit series are in possession of numerous documents, it is unlikely that screenshots of the explosive chat history will make it into the documentary.
It is also not yet clear exactly how the scandal will be portrayed. According to Gay-Rees, it will be necessary to wait and see how the incident develops in order to write the right dramaturgy.
"Drive to Survive" has been broadcast on Netflix since 2019, and the series is considered one of the reasons for the growing popularity of Formula 1. In any case, it can be assumed that viewers will also tune in to the explosive Horner episode ...
