“It won’t be fun for German soccer”

After eleven years, an era is probably coming to an end in Germany - not FC Bayern Munich, but Bayer Leverkusen is well on the way to snatching the championship trophy. ÖFB international Christopher Trimmel is already venturing a look into the future: "FC Bayern's answer won't be fun for German soccer."

The final decision in the German Bundesliga title race was probably made on Saturday. Leverkusen defeated Hoffenheim 2:1 late on, while Bayern lost the "classic" against Dortmund 2:0.

"It's good that Leverkusen is a different club to Bayern at the top for once, although I'm curious to see Bayern's response if they don't win anything in a season," said Christopher Trimmel in an interview with Die Welt. The Union Berlin footballer expects an angry response from Munich next season. "FC Bayern's response won't be fun for German soccer," predicts the Austrian.

Duel with leaders
Trimmel and Union Berlin are currently twelfth in the German Bundesliga. With seven matchdays to go, they are nine points clear of the relegation places. On Saturday (3.30 pm/live in the sportkrone.at ticker), a difficult home match against leaders Leverkusen awaits.
