KV dispute
AUA passengers have to expect cancellations again
One week after the strike by Austrian Airlines' cabin crew, there were again cancellations on Thursday, with 92 out of 325 flights canceled. The staff have been holding a works meeting since nine o'clock.
The duration and the concrete effects on operations are still unclear. The issue is higher salaries for the flying personnel. The situation between AUA management and cabin crew in the collective bargaining negotiations appears to be deadlocked, although both sides have recently emphasized that they are willing to talk. The union is demanding that staff wages be brought into line with those of Lufthansa staff.
The company has so far shown no signs of rapprochement. AUA boss Annette Mann even said that the Lufthansa Group could serve Vienna with cheaper airlines in future if the staff did not demand less. The trade union vida was "irritated" and spoke of "threats from the German side."
Further strikes possible
The further course of action is now to be discussed on Thursday. vida boss Roman Hebenstreit did not rule out further strikes on Friday. "All steps" are "possible."
The collective bargaining dispute has already lasted several weeks and 17 rounds of negotiations have not produced any results. Hundreds of flights have been canceled since negotiations began. It was only last Thursday that the cabin crew went on strike. Around 400 flights were canceled and 50,000 passengers did not reach their destinations as planned.
