Striker in high demand
100-million duel for former BVB flop
At Newcastle United, Alexander Isak has become the focus of several financially strong clubs. The Swedish striker is said to be worth up to 100 million euros to both Arsenal and Tottenham in the summer.
The Swede, who came to BVB as a great talent and never fulfilled their hopes, could soon become one of the most expensive players. The Sun reports that Arsenal and Tottenham are determined to prise the striker away from Newcastle in the summer.
However, the 24-year-old still has a contract with the Magpies until 2028 and has already scored 18 goals in 31 games this season. So anyone with serious hopes of signing him in the summer will have to dig deep into their pockets. And that's exactly what the two London clubs are apparently planning to do. Both clubs are said to be prepared to invest over 100 million euros in their dream striker.
Coach wants to keep him
Newcastle, on the other hand, would gladly forgo the money in order to keep the 24-year-old. "He's an outstanding talent and nobody connected with Newcastle would want to lose him," said coach Eddie Howe recently.
Isak played for Dortmund between 2017 and 2019. Recruited as a great talent, he never really felt at home in Dortmund. He finally made his big breakthrough in Spain at Real Sociedad, from where he moved to the island in 2022.
