Bayern are working on the return of the exiled coach

Former coach Julian Nagelsmann is the focus of Munich, who were beaten 2-0 by Dortmund on Saturday. Ralph Hasenhüttl, meanwhile, celebrated a win on his debut.

The rumor mill is in full swing again in Munich, and the question of Bayern's new coach is keeping soccer Germany busy. Not a day goes by without new names being thrown into the mix. After preferred candidate Xavi Alonso declined and the Spaniard stayed with Leverkusen, Munich flirted with Ralf Rangnick - but the German is staying with the ÖFB! That leaves just two new top favorites: Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi (disadvantage: doesn't speak German). And: Julian Nagelsmann! The 36-year-old, currently the German team manager, could be Thomas Tuchel's successor.

The Bayern bosses sacked him in April 2023 after just 21 months in office! But the former bosses Salihamdizic and Kahn are no more, now Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are in charge - initial talks are said to have been positive. Munich want to present their new coach in April. Nagelsmann is also looking for a solution before the European Championship.

Bayern suffered a 2-0 defeat against Dortmund, their first home defeat against BVB in ten years. "Completely inexplicable," said Kimmich. "We had no bite," said Tuchel. Leverkusen are now only theoretically in contention for the championship. Tuchel: "Congratulations to Leverkusen."

A sense of achievement
Ralph Hasenhüttl celebrated a perfect debut as coach of Wolfsburg: On his debut, he ended the Wolves' eleven-game winless streak, winning 2-0 in Bremen.

Michi Gregoritsch took his run from the ÖFB team with him, scoring for Freiburg after his treble against Turkey: he netted 1:0 in the 3:0 win in Gladbach - his 6th goal of the season.
