Swiss speed skier hangs up his skis
Gilles Roulin is hanging up his skis. As the speed specialist explained on Instagram on Wednesday, he will be competing at the Swiss Championships for the very last time.
"I have decided to end my career after the Swiss Championships," said the 29-year-old in a video on the social media platform. In a statement from the Swiss Ski Association, Roulin explained the reasons behind his decision. He had noticed that something was different this year, "especially at the start, it just didn't feel like it used to, the willingness and the will were no longer really there and so I had to realize that the path for me should now probably go in a different direction."
The Zurich native made his World Cup debut in Kvitfjell in 2017, and his best result was a fourth place in the downhill in Val Gardena/Gröden in 2017. The downhill at the Swiss Championships in Davos on April 4 and the super-G two days later will be Roulin's last two races.
