Own apartment for people with care needs
In Vorarlberg, 235 homes have already been arranged through the "Social Network Housing" project.
The "Social Network Housing" project was launched back in 2006. The service, which is coordinated by the Institute for Social Services (ifs), is aimed at people who need help from social workers to get their lives on track.
Since this project was launched, there have been 235 housing allocations in 54 municipalities, according to Marco Tittler, the provincial councillor responsible. Three new municipalities - Bludesch, Innerbraz and Mäder - were added last year.
In these municipalities, people with very high care needs receive accommodation via the non-profit housing market - for example in Vogewosi buildings. Previously, they were housed in assisted homelessness support facilities, lived in precarious housing conditions or were homeless or housed in emergency shelters.
Close cooperation
"Through the project, those affected receive their own tenancy agreements and also act independently. However, they are closely supervised by social workers from the homelessness service," explains the Housing Minister. The project is therefore carried out in close cooperation between the municipalities, the non-profit housing developers, homelessness assistance and the state.
