Two holidaymakers' cars from Hamburg crashed within a few minutes of each other in Tyrol on Saturday afternoon. In Hochfügen in the Zillertal (Schwaz district), a driver (48) left the road in his car heading out of the valley and crashed into the forest. Shortly afterwards, in Eben am Achensee (also in the Schwaz district), the car of a German (47) crashed over the embankment and became stuck on a tree.

At around 3.30 p.m., the 48-year-old father and his car, in which his two children (12 and 15) were also sitting, left the slightly snow-covered road in Hochfügen and plunged around 40 meters into the adjacent forest. All the occupants were able to free themselves and climb back onto the road. They were taken to hospital in Schwaz with minor injuries as a precaution. "The badly damaged car was recovered from the rough terrain under difficult conditions," said the police.

Germans escaped with a scare
A compatriot of the 48-year-old, also from Hamburg, then crashed his car off the B181 in Eben am Achensee at around 3.40 p.m. over the embankment towards the tracks of the Achenseebahn and got stuck on a tree. The 47-year-old driver and his passenger (42) escaped with a fright, but the car was badly damaged.
