Gasser makes it onto the podium at the World Cup final
Snowboard double Olympic champion Anna Gasser has ended her season in style with a podium finish in the World Cup. The Carinthian came third in the slopestyle competition on the Corvatsch in Silvaplana with 71.08 points, beaten only by the two Japanese riders Reira Iwabuchi (79.62) and Kokomo Murase (72.98). In the men's 16-man final, Clemens Millauer finished ninth.
According to Gasser, she was not yet at 100 percent after her crash at the X-Games in Aspen at the end of January, but put in a decent performance in Switzerland. After fifth place in the first, faulty final run, the 32-year-old jumped onto the podium with the second-best run in the second run. "It certainly wasn't my most technically difficult run, but enough to be on the podium again. I'm delighted to end the season healthy and with a podium."
The ÖSV flagship athlete has now finished on the podium in all four World Cup starts this winter. She had also achieved this feat in the two previous seasons. The last time Gasser missed out on the World Cup podium was three years ago. Murase secured the slopestyle crystal globe.
Millauer ninth
Millauer messed up his first run and showed a solid performance in the second with 65.94 points. Canadian Liam Brearley (88.10) took the day's victory, also winning the crystal for the discipline classification.
