"Reputation & impact"
After “Kategate”: Palace seeks new employee
Buckingham Palace has advertised a vacancy in the communications department. Is this a coincidence after Princess Catherine's (42) photo mishap? Now you can apply to the royal family and possibly prevent the next scandal.
The British royal family is looking for reinforcements. The palace has advertised the position of communications assistant online, only shortly after the scandal surrounding the edited photo of Princess Kate.
The duties will include responding to media inquiries about the work of members of the royal family and creating updates for social media. This is exactly where the job advertisement is causing a stir ...
"Kategate" fueled wild rumors even more
The royal family, especially Kate and her husband Prince William (41), are known to be struggling to contain the conspiracy theories about Kate's health. The 42-year-old had an abdominal operation in January and has therefore not appeared in public in recent weeks.
A picture for British Mother's Day at the beginning of March was supposed to put an end to the rumors surrounding her. However, after the picture was recalled by well-known photo agencies because it had been digitally altered, the damage was done. Kate apologized publicly, and even more conspiracy theories have been circulating ever since.
Fans advise hiring "crisis specialists"
On social media, some users are therefore advising the royals not to hire a new communications assistant, "but a crisis communications specialist". Some joked that they would do the job unpaid just to find out what was really behind the fuss surrounding Princess Kate. However, as the job is advertised by Buckingham Palace and not Kensington Palace, William and Kate's household, the job is probably not directly related to the work of the heir to the throne couple.
"Focus on reputation and impact"
The new employee will apparently look after the entire royal family. However, the choice of words in the advertisement makes you sit up and take notice. "The reactions to our work are always very high-profile, so reputation and impact will be at the forefront of your work," the job advertisement states. Interested parties can apply until April 7. For 37.5 hours a week, the palace is offering the equivalent of around 30,000 euros a year.
