Dixie and swing conquer Western Styria again

It's getting hot again in the East Styrian summer! The Dixie & Swing Festival brings the spirited sounds of New Orleans to Weiz again this year from August 9 to 18. And not only to Ilz and Heilbrunn, but now also to Riegersburg.

This year's Dixie and Swing Festival in Eastern Styria is colorful, lively and full of energy. And organizer Johannes Hödl has quite a few trump cards up his sleeve this time. In addition to international stars of the scene, he is bringing some new features that will delight both the people of Weiz and the many visitors from near and far.

For example, in addition to the jazz spectacle with the St. Barbara Dixielanders, there will be a festive opening with all the trimmings for the first time at the opening in the Harb car center in Weiz on 9 August.

More dancing to music
Due to the great demand, the dance workshops are also being expanded. Lindy hop and jazz moves can now be learned not only from Antonia Suanjak, but also from Sonia Ortega Betriu and Héctor Artal Parada (from Barcelona) in a total of six workshops. Musicians will get their money's worth in Ilz, where the traditional jazz workshop and final concert will take place at the music school.

You can then put your dancing skills to the test at numerous events, such as the Summer Swing Dance with the Coquette Jazz Band on August 16 at the Kunsthaus Weiz or the big New Orleans Street Music Festival the following day.

Listening and tapping along is the order of the day with pianists Rossano Sportiello (New York) & Mátyás Bartha (Vienna), who will get the Kunsthaus Weiz buzzing with guests on 14 August. The following day, Tatiana Eva-Marie and the Avalon Jazz Band from France will provide gipsy jazz at its finest with their "Djangology".

Finally, Saturday (August 17) belongs to Australian star trumpeter James Morrison, who will perform a brilliant jazz evening together with the Big Band Weiz.

The finale on August 18 brings one last innovation. Riegersburg is not only a new location, but also another jazz-savvy partner.
