Until summer 2026
Salzburg midfield talent extends his contract in Linz
Trained at the Red Bull Academy, now arrived in the Austrian Bundesliga: Alexander Briedl. The 21-year-old has extended his contract with promoted club Blau-Weiß Linz on a long-term basis.
Alexander Briedl was a Bull until January 2021. He then turned his back on the Red Bull empire and moved to Horn. From there, he made the leap to Blau-Weiß Linz in the summer of 2022. The midfield engine has since made a name for himself with the steel city club, making 13 appearances and providing one assist in the current season. "At the beginning, I was still a cooperation player at Wallern because I was just coming back from an injury. It was difficult then. From September onwards, things really took off and I played more and more," Alex grins in an interview with the "Krone".
Pinzgauer believes in talent
Reason enough for sports director Christoph Schösswendter to extend the talent's contract. "With Alex, we were able to convince a young and promising player to stay with us at the club. His development has been on a steep upward trajectory in recent months and we are convinced that he still has a lot of potential," the Pinzgau native is quoted as saying in a club statement.
For Briedl himself, such an extension is always a good feeling: "Nice. I'm always feeling good anyway and after a release like this it's even better!" He wants to repay the club with good performances. Even if he still has some way to go to become a regular. "I have to get fitter and be patient, wait for my chance," says the Salzburg native with determination.
