Anna Veith emotional: “You are an inspiration”

Anna Veith has congratulated her friend Lara Gut-Behrami on winning the overall World Cup in an emotional letter. The Swiss athlete is an inspiration - both because of her sporting achievements and because of her human side.

The letter published by "Blick" shows Veith from her emotional side. "It is admirable how you have reinvented yourself time and again and continue to push your limits. You are an inspiration to many and your ability to cope with setbacks is rare," the Austrian addresses her good friend.

The Swiss athlete has overcome numerous obstacles on her path to success: "As your friend and former competitor, I have experienced your rise first-hand. You can be very proud of what you have achieved," said Veith.

The 34-year-old congratulates Gut-Behrami on her well-deserved title and hopes that she still has a smile on her face despite the exhausting weeks that lie behind her. Her passion, determination, tireless commitment and her "own head" have made her one of the best female skiers.

But it is not just her sporting achievements that make the Swiss athlete a role model: "Today I would like to celebrate not only your sporting achievements in my mind, but also you as a person. You are not only a talented skier, but also a wonderful friend and personality," Veith concludes her emotional message.
