Patrick Wimmer: First a lightning goal, then a joke red

What a rollercoaster of emotions for Wolfsberg legionnaire Patrick Wimmer. First the ÖFB kicker scored to take the lead against Augsburg on Saturday, but then he was sent off with a straight red. A more than controversial decision. 

The ninth minute: A Wolfsburg corner is cleared too short, Maxence Lacroix passes it to the middle, where Patrick Wimmer is just right and nets from a turn. What a start for the weakening Kovac team. And they kept up the pressure, but the 2:0 never came.

Shortly before the break, the ex-Austrian was once again in the spotlight, but this time in defense. Wimmer tried to make up for losing the ball to Kevin Mbabu and went into a running duel, but the Augsburg man went to ground just outside the penalty area and referee Timo Gerach was clear: it was an emergency brake. The VAR even confirmed the decision. But fans and experts couldn't believe it.
