Salzburg branch as a touchstone for the young bulls

It used to be Blau-Weiß Linz, now it's Ried: the second division team with which most Salzburg players are under contract. FC Liefering will face them on Friday evening. The team from Innviertel is a very tough opponent.

Blau-Weiß Linz held this title for years, but the Bundesliga promoted team passed the baton to Ried. The new Salzburg branch of the second division was formed in the Innviertel. With Jonas Mayer, Belmin Beganovic, Ben Wörndl, Nikola Stosic (moved to Sturm Graz II in the winter) and Matthias Gragger, five "Stierwoscha" have played for the Upper Austrians so far. Goalkeeper Dominik Stöger is also part of the squad, although he is currently still guarding the box for the second team in the Regionalliga Mitte. Coach Maximilian Senft is particularly taken with Mayer from Pinzgau. The 19-year-old has already made 14 appearances this season and has extended his contract until 2026.

The Salzburg branch will be the next touchstone for the young bulls today (18.10). They dropped their first points of the spring with a draw in Bregenz last weekend, but are still unbeaten. "Ried are an absolute top team in this league, which is also reflected in the fact that they have scored the most goals and conceded the fewest," says Liefering coach Onur Cinel.
