Son stabbed father with knife during argument

A family argument in an apartment in Feldbach in south-eastern Styria got out of hand on Thursday evening. The intoxicated son (18) stabbed his father and injured his mother in the process. 

On Thursday evening at around 11.45 pm, an argument broke out between the highly intoxicated son and his father in the apartment of a Ukrainian family in Feldbach. The living situation of the refugee family is very cramped. When the drunken son then brought his girlfriend home, a heated discussion ensued with his father. The 18-year-old suddenly pulled out a pocket knife and attacked the head of the family, stabbing him several times in the upper body. When he tried to intervene, his mother also suffered cuts to her hands. The 38-year-old informed the landlady, who set the rescue chain in motion.

Father was seriously injured and taken to hospital
The 39-year-old father was seriously injured and taken to Feldbach Regional Hospital by the Red Cross. The 38-year-old mother was treated by paramedics in the apartment and did not need to be taken to hospital.

The suspect left the apartment after the crime, but was stopped by police officers a short time later. The knife he had thrown into the meadow while fleeing was also found by the officers. "He allowed himself to be arrested without resistance, but could not yet be questioned," says police press spokesman Reinhard Gartner. Further investigations are being conducted by the Styrian State Office of Criminal Investigation on suspicion of attempted murder.
