DFB team on the “ground”: Which players have to tremble

Julian Nagelsmann takes action! After Germany's national coach recently gave his team a disastrous report card and announced surprising personnel consequences for his tournament squad, some players now have to fear for their participation in the home EURO.

"The senior national team has been at rock bottom for years. There has been nothing recently that could give us hope of reaching the semi-finals," said Julian Nagelsmann in an interview with the news magazine "Der Spiegel". After the comeback announcement of veteran Toni Kroos (34), there will be unpleasant surprises for some of the professionals when it comes to nominating the European Championship squad. "There will certainly be one or two players who won't be nominated who many think will definitely be there," said Nagelsmann. After the test defeats in November against Turkey (2:3) and in Vienna against Austria (0:2), a change in mentality is needed. Words that caused a stir.

Four times Dortmund, twice Bayern
As the newspaper "Bild" now reports, four Borussia Dortmund players could be affected. Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle must fear for their nomination. Mats Hummels is also currently not planned as a regular for the home European Championships in the summer due to his speed deficit.

In addition to the Dortmund players, two Bayern Munich players are also not in the best position at the moment. Serge Gnabry, who has been out for months due to a muscle injury, is considered a shaky candidate. And Leon Goretzka also has to fight for his place in the DFB team.

The last European Championship tests
Germany's last test matches before the squad nomination for the EURO are scheduled for March 23 in France and three days later in Frankfurt against the Netherlands. As hosts, the DFB team will face Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland in their group at the European Championships. Some prominent names will probably no longer be involved.
