50,000 euros in damage
Offenders stole tools to cut open safe
A gang of burglars was after cash. The Romanians caused more than 50,000 euros worth of damage in ten robberies.
Criminals were particularly brazen on the night of February 25 in Langenzersdorf in the district of Korneuburg: The perpetrators first stole an angle grinder, then used the stolen tools to cut open the safe in a clubhouse and looted the club's cash box.
Investigators were quickly able to track down two getaway vehicles and a few days later arrested two Romanians (38 and 59) after burglaries in a workshop and a doctor's surgery in Frauendorf an der Au in the district of Tulln. Three of the suspects' compatriots (24, 29 and 55) were caught by the street crime task force in Vienna. Money from the burglaries was seized in their accommodation.
Over 50,000 euros in damage

In total, the suspects are believed to have struck ten times since the end of November last year. They caused damage amounting to more than 50,000 euros. Three of the Romanians confessed, all five suspects are in custody.
