Balcony was on fire: Dog woke up owner

On Wednesday night, a balcony of a house in Weigelsdorf in the district of Baden (Lower Austria) was ablaze. The resident noticed the fire just in time.

It is unthinkable how the fire would have ended at around 2 a.m. had the dog not raised the alarm. The four-legged friend's loud barking woke his master from his sleep. The homeowner then noticed the flames on the balcony. 

The man immediately alerted the emergency services. The arriving firefighters from the Weigelsdorf and Ebreichsdorf fire departments quickly had the flames under control and prevented the flames from spreading to the roof. 

Cause of the fire still unclear
The homeowner and his four-legged friend were unlucky, no one was injured in the fire. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated by the police.
