Truck lands in ditch: Driver trapped

A major morning incident on the Tauern highway between Villach-West and Paternion in Carinthia: A Hungarian truck driver had suddenly lost control and ended up with his vehicle weighing several tons sideways in the ditch.

Siren alarm shortly after 6 a.m. on Tuesday! Reason: serious traffic accident on the Tauernautobahn in the direction of Salzburg between Villach-West and Paternion. A truck driver had lost control of his truck for unknown reasons.

Driver survived
When the fire department arrived at the scene, they were met with a terrible sight: the injured professional driver (51) was trapped in the completely deformed driver's cab - but fortunately responsive. The Florianis first removed the windshield in order to free the victim from the debris lying around. At the same time, the emergency crews secured the truck and set up fire protection.

Roof cut open
In order to finally reach the driver and rescue him, the driver's cab was raised and the roof cut open. The seriously injured truck driver was then quickly freed from the wreckage and transported to Villach Regional Hospital by the emergency services. In the end, a towing company, which had also been alerted, arrived to recover the vehicle, which weighed several tons.
