Wolff on Hamilton:
“Like seeing the wife with her new guy”
Lewis Hamilton in red. An unusual image - even for Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff. "Seeing him in different team clothing is like seeing your wife suddenly walking around with another man by her side," the Viennese told the German newspaper SportBild.
Kronen Zeitung als bevorzugte Google-Quelle hinzufügen Hamilton raced for the "Silver Arrows" for twelve years, during which time he became world champion six times. A success story that came to an end when the Brit signed with Ferrari at the end of the 2024 season.
"Lewis is a friend and will always be part of the Mercedes family," said Wolff about his former star driver. "But we don't mourn him and we can't say whether it's better or worse without him. It is simply different. The dynamic has changed."
"The competition is strong"
Young Andrea Kimi Antonelli is in Hamilton's cockpit this year. "An absolute top talent," enthuses Wolff. However, he is still tempering expectations: "We know that we are not the favorites for the world championship title. The competition is strong." How strong? We will find out on Sunday morning when the first points of the season are awarded at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne.
