Escape from deportation detention center took only 20 minutes

Another escape attempt from the deportation detention center in Vordernberg, Upper Styria, was successful. A North African escaped over a wall secured with barbed wire, but was caught in a wooded area.

Four men, presumably from North Africa (more details were not yet available), tried to escape from the detention center in Vordernberg on Wednesday. According to police spokesman Heimo Kohlbacher, three were caught at the site itself, one man managed to get over the outer wall secured with barbed wire.

After a good 20 minutes, however, he was caught by the police in the woods, having suffered minor injuries to his hand. Kohlbacher: "A detention center is not a high-security prison. Escape is possible if you put your life in danger."
