Rapid binds “outstanding talent” for the long term

Rapid extend their contract with striker Nikolaus Wurmbrand ahead of schedule. "We are all delighted that we have managed to secure the long-term contract of a player who trained with us and is rightly regarded as an outstanding talent," said a delighted Markus Katzer, head of sport.

The Bundesliga runners-up have announced that the club and the 18-year-old attacker have agreed an early contract extension until the summer of 2028.

The multiple ÖFB youth team player made his debut for the red-white-red U21 team back in October and celebrated a successful debut in the Rapid professional starting eleven just under a month earlier when he scored after just 30 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Wolfsberger AC in Lavanttal. 

Dream fulfilled
"The offer to renew my contract, which is still running for a longer period of time, was further proof for me that the people responsible for the sport at Rapid have full confidence in me. I am very pleased and honored by that," said Wurmbrand. "Rapid is simply my club and this year my first dream has already come true with my debut with the professionals!"
