Are Dortmund fans shooting against Jürgen Klopp here?

At the Bundesliga match between Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig (2:1), an explosive banner in the BVB fan block caused a stir. Was it a dig at former coach Jürgen Klopp, who had signed for Red Bull?

Jürgen Klopp joins Red Bull, the successful German coach becomes "Head of Global Soccer". A deal that also triggers critical voices. On Saturday evening, an XXL poster from Dortmund fans read: "Swap: Values. For: Can deposit."

Although Klopp's name was not mentioned, it is quite possible that this was an expression of displeasure regarding his Red Bull switch. "I have never been so critical of Red Bull. That statement alone is almost unacceptable," the 47-year-old recently said in Toni and Felix Kroos' podcast "Einfach mal Luppen".

Red Bull a red rag
On internet forums and social media, Klopp was met with malice and ridicule for his new field of activity. In Germany in particular, there are numerous traditionalists for whom Red Bull is a red rag in soccer. Protest banners can regularly be seen in the stadiums.

The accusation is that the company is using its millions to buy success and that soccer is used solely to advertise an energy drink. The potentially competition-distorting linking of several clubs is also a frequently voiced point of criticism.
