Association cracks down! Ghost games and penalties

During the supplementary match in the Regionalliga Ost (RLO) between Mauerwerk and Wiener Sportclub (2:3), there were wild scenes after the final whistle on Tuesday, for which there are now consequences. The RLO's penal panel decided that Mauerwerk will have to play ghost games until further notice. Suspensions were also imposed.

Wild scenes broke out after the final whistle: According to Sportclub vice-boss David Krapf Günther, dozens of "fans" and stewards of the home team attacked the visiting players, and the police had to deploy almost 50 men.

The case ended up before the league's criminal senate, which has now taken firm action. As a result, FC Mauerwerk's home matches will take place in private until further notice. Coach Ilco Naumoski and player Ali Sahintürk have also been suspended.

Are further consequences imminent?
Naumoski and Sahintürk will not be allowed to enter the Ostbahn pitch against Neusiedl on Friday evening. In addition, they will probably have to answer to the league's criminal senate next week.

Meanwhile, the Vienna Football Association distanced itself from the recent riots in a statement: "We will coordinate a list of measures for such incidents in a meeting of the association convened at short notice and prepare them for implementation in the relevant committees and hope for zero tolerance in the penalties."
