“A glass of water please” – then the purse was gone

A 79-year-old Tyrolean woman suspected nothing bad when the doorbell rang at her front door on Monday morning. A "fundraiser" asked for a glass of water. But after a nice chat in the kitchen, her wallet and more than a hundred euros as well as ID cards were suddenly gone.

At around 11.30 a.m. in Mils near Hall (Innsbruck-Land district), a currently unknown woman suddenly appeared at the 79-year-old's door and asked for a donation. "The lady then asked for a glass of water, which is why the resident asked her into the kitchen," the police said. The Tyrolean woman's husband was also at home.

"When the couple left the kitchen for a short time, the unknown woman took the Austrian woman's purse, which was on the kitchen shelf, and left the house," explained the police. The wallet contained a low three-digit euro amount as well as several ID cards belonging to the 79-year-old woman.
