Christmas decorations & the law
Oh you kitsch: what neighbors have to tolerate
One man's joy is another man's sorrow - and this is especially true for Christmas decorations and music. One person likes a good dose of brightly colored kitsch on the house and in the garden, the other "grins" at it: What do I have to tolerate as a neighbor, what can I expect neighbors to put up with? Oh, we have all the cheerful details for you!
What do you think of Christmas decorations everywhere? Are you the kitsch type and have been thinking about how to decorate harmoniously this year since Easter? Or are you the Grinch type who would love to bring down the brightly lit Santa Claus next door? The law lies somewhere in between: "The exercise of ownership rights to a property is only permitted to the extent that it does not interfere with the rights of others," says lawyer Martin Bleckmann.
