Crashed badly on a moped: friends as first responders

A joyride with friends was the undoing of a 15-year-old moped rider in the Tyrolean lowlands on Friday evening. The teenager crashed and was left seriously injured on the embankment. His companions bravely administered first aid and immediately set the rescue chain in motion.

The 15-year-old local was part of a larger group of young moped riders who were out and about in Kundl (Kufstein district) on Friday evening. The terrible accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in the district of Liesfeld.

Touched a crash barrier and crashed
"For unknown reasons, the teenager suddenly lost control of his moped. He veered off the road to the right, ended up on the verge and crashed after hitting a road marker", reported the police on Saturday.

His companions and passers-by provided first aid until the emergency services arrived.

Suspected thoracic and abdominal trauma
After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, the 15-year-old was admitted to the shock room at Kufstein District Hospital with suspected thoracic and abdominal trauma.
