Collision: 14-year-old critically injured

Serious traffic accident on Tuesday morning in Ilz in Eastern Styria: a 14-year-old teenager was critically injured in a collision between two cars. Two other people suffered minor injuries.

A 42-year-old woman from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district was driving her car on the B 65 coming from Ilz in the direction of Nestelbach at around 8 a.m. and wanted to turn left at the junction with the municipal road to Mutzenfeld.

In doing so, she probably overlooked the oncoming car of a 19-year-old man, also from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district. When the two vehicles collided, the driver's 14-year-old son was trapped in the vehicle.

He had to be flown to Graz Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries by the crew of the C16 rescue helicopter. The two drivers had to be taken to hospitals in Graz and Feldbach with minor injuries.
