Third division club announces bitter Dortmund defeat

Borussia Dortmund would have preferred to keep this test match a secret. BVB's substitutes, who had played little or not at all in the cup win against Lübeck (4:1) on Saturday, came under the wheels at third-division club SC Verl on Sunday. The result was a bitter 0:4 defeat.

While Dortmund would have preferred to keep a mantle of silence over the test match, SC Verl proudly announced their victory over the Bundesliga top club. "Thanks to a goal from Kammerbauer and a hat-trick (!) from Probst, our sports club defeated last year's Champions League finalists 4:0," announced the third division club.

The Dortmund team was "a mix of 1st team, 2nd team and the U19s". According to Bild, stars such as Sebastien Haller and Donyell Malen were in the starting line-up. New signing Maxi Beier was also included.
