Seven injured in collision on the B33

A total of seven car occupants, one 20-year-old trapped in the car: the emergency services were fully occupied in a rear-end collision in Mautern in the district of Krems. 

The collision in Mautern in the district of Krems-Land is believed to have been caused by a 20-year-old female driver who drove onto the B33 from an unmarked parking lot. However, she overlooked an approaching car: Despite braking hard, the driver was unable to avoid a collision. 

The young female driver first had to be freed from the car by the fire department using hydraulics - she was immediately flown to St. Pölten University Hospital by the Christophorus 2 rescue helicopter. The other occupants in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. However, they were also taken to the hospital for safety reasons.

The approaching car was being driven by a 23-year-old man - he and his 20-year-old passenger from Krems were also taken to Krems University Hospital for safety, and the four occupants of their vehicle were also injured.
