Teenager (14) injured in canyoning accident

A teenager (14) was injured while abseiling down a waterfall during a canyoning trip in Tyrol. She was rescued by emergency helicopter and taken to hospital.

This was certainly not how the German girl (14) had imagined her canyoning trip! The girl and her father were part of a group of six who went canyoning with a guide in Schlaiten on Monday.

Injured on the foot
At around 3.30 pm, the participants were abseiled down a waterfall by the guide. The 14-year-old slipped and injured her foot. She was in so much pain that she was unable to continue. She was rescued by the Lienz mountain rescue team and the emergency helicopter using a rope and flown to hospital in Lienz.
